The hyper luxury resort is designed by Dubai-based Killa Design and is set to boost tourism in Saudi Arabia.
August 2023
Red Sea Global (RSG) from Saudi Arabia has unveiled a recent video showcasing the advancements made in one of the nation’s ambitious megaprojects, namely the Sheybarah Resorts situated on Sheybarah Island.
This hyper-luxurious resort, featuring 73 premium accommodations, has been meticulously designed by Dubai’s renowned Killa Design. Accessible via a 45-minute boat ride from the mainland, the Sheybarah Resorts promise an exceptional experience.
Sheybarah Resort will be nestled within a diverse ecosystem with mangroves, desert flora, and pristine coral reefs, in its surroundings. The LEED-Platinum property will have cantilevered accommodations, set above coral reefs. These “aerial accommodation pods” suspend guests in a marine paradise as well.
Powered solely by a centralised solar farm and featuring a solar-powered desalination plant, Sheybarah Resort showcases its commitment to sustainability. Waste recycling occurs on-site, reducing the need for material transportation. The project’s infrastructure transforms into an immersive visitor experience, with the façade of the resort made with highly reflective stainless-steel orbs, which weights around 150 tons.
This design approach not only minimises visual intrusion but also optimises energy efficiency by reflecting nearly 100 percent of solar gain. Inside, guests can take advantage of spacious interiors with each room offering panoramic views of the sea, sliding doors opening to decks, seating areas, and infinity pools.
Modularly constructed villas
Netherlands-based heavy lifting and transport specialist Mammoet has delivered the first batch of the modularly-constructed ‘overwater villas’ for Red Sea Global’s (RSG) Sheybarah Island Resort in Saudi Arabia. RSG had selected Mammoet for the transportation and installation of all 73 villa pods for the Sheybarah Island project in May 2022. Mammoet teamed up with Dubai’s P&O Maritime Logistics to support the shipment of the villas from the UAE to Saudi Arabia.
The company said it has achieved a new milestone with the installation of the first prefabricated, stainless steel overwater villa orb on its foundation. A total of four villas were loaded in at the Port of Hamriyah in Sharjah, and were shipped to the island for installation at the site.
